By-Laws
Article I
Name of the Organization
A. This organization shall be known as the San Fernando Valley 600 Bowling Club (hereafter referred to as SFV 600 Club).

Article II
Objective
The SFV 600 club is formed for the following objective and purposes:
A. To unite in a group female bowlers who have qualified for membership by bowling a three-game scratch series of 600 or more, in leagues and tournaments sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress (hereafter referred to as USBC).
B. To conduct a minimum of three USBC-sanctioned tournaments per year for its members when not conflicting with NLACUSBC or USBC State events.
C. To encourage the spirit of good fellowship, sportsmanship and charitable activities. To play the game in a clean manner, bringing credit and honor to themselves and to the SFV 600 Club.
Article III
Membership
A. Application for membership may be made at any time after the scratch 600 three- game series has been bowled, as set forth in Article II A. Membership will be open to members of bowling associations in California. Application forms must be filled out and submitted to the SFV 600 Club secretary
B. Membership fee in the SFV 600 Club shall be $10.00 annually during our fiscal year, October 1 through September 30 of the next year. A change in membership fee requires a proposed amendment and can be voted on only at the annual meeting of the membership. Members may purchase additional articles such as pins and club shirts.
C. USBC rules governing conditions under which scores may qualify for awards will determine eligibility for membership in the SFV 600 Club.
D. Either the local 600 Club secretary or the local association secretary shall verify the 600 series and may accept as evidence newspaper clippings, individual average cards or other satisfactory evidence.
Article IV
Meetings
A. The annual meeting shall be held in October, date and place to be announced 30 days pnor to the meeting.
B. You must attend the annual open meeting to be e1igible to bowl in the tournament that follows. Emergency situations will be considered.
C. Twelve members shall constitute a quorum at the annual meeting two of which shall be officers.
Article V
Officers
A. The officers of the SFV 600 Club shall be president, vice president, secretary/treasurer and sergeant-at-arms.
B. The president shall preside at all meetings of the club. She shall name all committees and make other appointments as may be deemed necessary, unless otherwise provided in the motion ordering such committees or appointments to be named. She shall also perform such other duties as may be required. She can be co-signer on all warrants and checks drawn on the treasury of the club.
C. The vice president shall assist the president and perform such additional duties as may be required. She shall keep minutes of all proceedings of the SFV 600 Club. She can be a co-signer on all warrants and checks drawn on the treasury of the club.
D. The secretary/treasurer shall issue all membership cards and awards, answer correspondence directed to her office, keep a true and correct account of all receipts and disbursements and submit to the president a monthly financial statement showing receipts and disbursements of all club business. At the annual meeting, she shall submit a written report and statement of all financial transactions. She shall deposit all monies of the club within seven working days in a bank or banks that are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to the credit of the San Fernando Valley 600 Bowling Club. She shall receive and receipt all dues paid to the club. She shall be a co-signer on all warrants and checks drawn on the treasury of the club and receive an annual stipend that will be reviewed at the annual meeting and recorded in the minutes of the annual meeting. She shall turn over to her successor all records, books and other property of the club in her possession.
E. The sergeant-at-arms shall maintain order during the meeting and perform such other duties as may be required. She can be a co-signer on all warrants and checks drawn on the treasury of the club.
F. If the office of the president becomes vacant, the vice president shall have the option, within seven days, to become president and to hold that position for the unexpired term or to decline the position, in which case the members shall elect a president who shall hold that position for the unexpired term. A vacancy occurring in other offices shall be filled by the president with the approval of the members. The appointee shall hold that position for the unexpired term.
G. The officers of the club shall meet at least once annually, said meeting to be held immediately prior to the membership meeting at a time convenient to the officers.
H. The officers terms of office shall be as set forth under Article VI B.
I. Two signatures are required on all warrants and checks drawn on the treasury of the club: secretary/treasurer and any one of the other three officers

Article VI
Election of Officers
A. Officers shall be elected at each annual meeting to succeed those whose terms expire and shall hold office for a term of two years, commencing November 1 after their election and until their successors take office. Each.office shall be filled by the candidate receiving a majority of the legal votes cast by those present and eligible to vote. All voting shall be by ballot except that a voice vote may be taken when only one candidate is nominated. When two candidates are nominated, and a majority vote is not reached on the first ballot, balloting shall continue until the candidate receives the required majority vote. When three or more candidates are nominated and a majority vote is not reached on the first ballot, the candidate having the lowest vote shall be dropped from the list of candidates. Balloting shall continue and the same procedure followed until a candidate receives the required majority.
B. Officers shall be elected on a staggered system
Even year - President & sergeant-at-arms
Odd year - Vice president & secretary/treasurer
Any officer of the SFV 600 Club may accept nomination and run for election to another office without resigning her present office. If she is defeated, she may remain in her present office until her term expires.
Article VII
Parliamentary Authority
A. Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern proceeding on all meetings of the SFV 600 Club.
Article VIII
Amendments
A. The bylaws of the SFV 600 Club may be amended only by a two-thirds vote of the members present and voting at an annual meeting.
B. Procedure to amend are as follows: Any member or group of members of the club may submit proposed amendments to the bylaws. The proposed amendment
shall be submitted in writing io the secretary and president 21 days prior to the annual
meeting.
C. All amendments shall become effective November I after adoption unless otherwise specified at the time of adoption.
Article IX
The SFV 600 Club will recognize annually the member who bowled in a minimum of one club tournament in the current year, the high-scratch series (precedence) and high- scratch game in a USBC-sanctioned league or tournament between April 16 to the next April 15 and reported to the club's secretary 21 days prior to the annual open meeting. Also, the SFV 600 Club will acknowledge, when applicable, a rookie-of-the-year award and she will be reimbursed her renewal fee. The rookie-of-the-year will be determined by participation and tournament standings.
